EFI-Solutions is proud to have played a key role in the development of three new booster pump stations and a generator building for Rainbow Municipal Water District. Faced with a reduced construction timeline, the district needed a solution that could support the delivery of clean drinking water while maintaining quality, controlling costs, and minimizing field construction.

Project Overview

Rainbow Municipal Water District required three new booster pump stations and a supporting generator building to strengthen its potable water infrastructure. To meet the project schedule, EFI-Solutions assembled the facilities at our manufacturing plant in Centralia, Illinois, while other project activities continued at the job site. The stations were then shipped in multiple sections and reassembled with only days of field construction.

This factory-built approach allowed fabrication and equipment procurement to move forward in parallel with site work. According to the project team, a construction window that could have taken approximately 18 months was reduced to about 6 months.

EFI-Solutions' Role

By completing the majority of the work in a controlled factory environment, EFI was able to address many of the construction and coordination challenges before the facilities arrived on site. The buildings were shop fabricated, separated into transportable sections, and delivered ready for reassembly and connection.

Site access presented an additional challenge. The station sections had to be transported through tight dirt roads, with only inches of clearance on several turns. EFI evaluated the delivery route in advance and coordinated with the transportation and crane teams to ensure the equipment could safely reach the site. Two of the project buildings were set in place in a single day.

Collaboration & Impact

Working alongside Rainbow Municipal Water District and the broader project team, EFI-Solutions delivered a factory-built solution that helped accelerate construction and reduce the amount of work required in the field.

The controlled manufacturing process provided greater consistency and allowed many potential field issues to be resolved before delivery. Once the facilities arrived, the project team could focus on setting the buildings, completing connections, and preparing the stations for operation.

This project showcases EFI-Solutions’ ability to deliver large, multi-section water facilities on challenging sites and compressed schedules. Our factory-built approach helps utilities reduce field construction, improve project predictability, and move critical water infrastructure into service faster.
