EFI-Solutions is proud to have played a key role in the development of the Shelby Township 3.5 MG Reservoir & 21,000 GPM Booster Station, a fast-track solution designed to stabilize pressures, meet peak summer demand, and protect ratepayers  in Shelby Township, Michigan.

Project Overview

Shelby Township, Michigan needed a fast, cost-effective way to manage peak summer demand and avoid costly wholesale peak penalties. Working with the Township and Anderson, Eckstein and Westrick, Inc. , we delivered a 3.5-million-gallon ground reservoir paired with a high-capacity booster station designed to move water east and west across the distribution system. The station features seven centrifugal units capable of up to 21,000 GPM during peak periods, supplied by Pioneer Pump with application-engineering support from Franklin Electric. Pioneer Pump provided the selected pump models and performance curves to meet the hydraulic profile, while Franklin Electric supported sizing, controls coordination, and commissioning assistance to ensure the package met the modeled duty points and startup proceeded smoothly.

EFI-Solutions' Role

EFI-Solutions engineered, manufactured, and delivered the booster station as a factory-built, modular package to compress field time and reduce risk. We constructed the mechanical and electrical sections offsite, performed a full dry-fit to verify alignment and controls integration, and then transported, set, and connected the modules on site.

Collaboration & Impact

Close coordination with Shelby Township leadership, Anderson, Eckstein and Westrick, Inc., the contractor, and suppliers kept approvals, procurement, and construction moving without delays. The result is a resilient, operator-friendly facility that covers peak hours without stressing the upstream wholesale system, protecting ratepayers from anticipated peak-use penalties while improving overall reliability. By pairing right-sized storage with flexible high-volume pumping, the project delivers long-term value for the community and a dependable foundation for future growth.
